In-Service Training

The academy provides continuing education for licensed law enforcement professionals.  Peace officers, corrections officers, and telecommunicators are able to advance their proficiency certifications through the intermediate, advanced, and master level courses available through the academy. 

Enrollment


Students may enroll online or in person. The online enrollment form serves as confirmation.  Only in the event of class being  full or postponed the academy will send notification via email.  

On-line enrollment - Find the course you want to take on the calendar.  Click on "More Details," and click on "On-line Enrollment."   Complete the online registration form.

In Person - Enrollment can be done in person by completing the registration form and bringing it to:

Payment 


The Academy does accept credit cards and debit cards. A credit/debit card fee (2%-3% of course cost) is added to credit card and debit payments. Training can also be paid by check, money order, or AACOG can invoice an officer’s agency. Payments must be pre-paid. The attendee will be asked to fill out, legibly and completely,  an in-house registration form.  Certificate of Attendance and Completion of class will be generated with this form and TCOLE credits will be reported to attendees PID number.    

Cancellations


Students needing to withdraw from a course should contact academy staff at (210) 362-5291 or academy@aacog.com no later than 72 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the class. Failure to do so may result in a 25% cancellation fee. Repeated violations of the 72 hour cancellation policy may result in restricted ability to register for future courses.  No refunds will be issued if cancellation is not made prior to the start of the class.

Courses


Firearms, tactical driving, defensive tactics, and telecommunications courses are open only to law enforcement officers. Students enrolling in these courses are required to provide a copy of their law enforcement credentials at time of registration.

Criminal Investigator Certification Program (Effective 01/01/2020)

The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) Regional Law Enforcement Academy Criminal Investigator Certification Program (CICP) is a comprehensive self-paced program consisting of training in some of the expected skill sets of knowledgeable criminal investigators.

Non-Law Enforcement Applicants


Individuals who are not licensed law enforcement professionals may be eligible to attend some academy courses. To inquire whether non-law enforcement support staff is qualified to attend a course, call (210) 362-5258.
